Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The word assumption means that Mary went to heaven nit by herself to distinguish it from Jesus, the Christ who ascended to Heaven. Mary did not go to heaven by herself. Jesus ascended to heaven because it is His right as the "one who came from heaven". It is only through Jesus that Mary entered heaven. This is just a simple clarification but has great impact on the catechesis of the People of God. The difference is needed for the clarification that through the merits of Mary's faith and ours in Jesus Christ as the very reason of being taken to heaven. Good works is not excluded here because faith without work is dead.
