Parishes as wellsprings of mercy and renewal

Pastoral Exhortation of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines to open the Year 2017 as the Year of Parishes, Communion of Communities BELOVED people of God: We welcome the year 2017 in our “novena-years” of preparation for the grateful celebration in 2021 of the five hundredth anniversary of the first coming and first receiving among our people of the Gospel of Christ Jesus and of His holy Church. That forthcoming 2021 celebration, recalling the first Mass and first baptisms in our shores, should be a new and joyous explosion in our lives of faith, hope and love throughout our country. Surely such will be our response to the free and gracious gift from the heavenly Father which made the year 1521, for us Christians first of all, a memorable and incredibly significant “new beginning” in our history. As we began this “novena” we raised a banner of hope and renewal for the Church in our land with the motto, “Live Christ, Share Christ!” That is the firm res...

Dapat itong sugpuin at pagtagumpayan.

The youth have new way of inviting those who wishes to serve the Lord in the language they could easily understand. I Just hope that more young people will serve the Lord in a more diverse way including the vocation to the priesthood. We are being overrun by other religions and sects because we have handful of workers. Though, we believe in the inspiration and works of the Holy Spirit but it is also a part of the workings of the same Spirit that more young people will be activated to the vocation of priesthood. It will be mathematically impossible if one priest can administer a ten thousand parishioners. It will be more manageable if the number will be lessened if there are enough shepherds the faithful.

Langgam me chapel. This is a copy of the text I copied to one of the internet news outlet who are not responsible enough to clarify the issue. Although the Parish Priest of St. Peter, the Apostle in Poblacion, San Pedro City, Rev. Fr. Pablo Bugay and the Parish Priest of St. Joseph, The Patriach of Langgam, Rev. Fr. David Reyes, San Pedro City have already spoken through Radio Veritas  and denied any report of signature campaign to oust President Rodrigo Duterte. The news item was taken from a Facebook page. The text have prompted me to look deeply on our mission to deliver the Word of God to the faithful. We are...

Opening of the Golden Jubilee of the Diocese of San Pablo

Image
Although it was been discussed before in the Presbyteral assembly or General assembly on the exact date of the Jubilee which will fall next year to be exact. Fifty years will start next year not this year. But since it was already been promulgated even during the three year preparation during the episcopate of Bishop Leo M. Drona.  We have to deal with these matter as it is that we are celebration it a year ahead of the exact time. This might me a small matter but this is a simple mathematics that should also be considered by those in the administration. we have also to consider that Jubilee year as celebrated in the Bible starts with the 50 years inclusive. The Diocese have planned a series of celebration during the year. The first is of course the opening which also marks the opening of the Holy Door of the Jubilee year of the Diocese of San Pablo which was held last Saturday in Cathedral of St. Paul, the First Hermit. Let us thank God for giving us this day...
