12 Pilgrims Killed in Tourist Bus accident

Early this morning, right after my 6:30 Mass, a text coming from the secretary of the diocese informing me to include in the intention of all the Masses for the soul of 12 parishioners of the Chair of St. Peter Parish of Balibago, Sta. Rosa, Laguna who were killed in the bus accident after they visited the churches of Baguio. Prayer also for the early recovery of the wounded.

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines - Eleven people were killed and at least 25 others were injured when a tourist bus rammed into a tree in Pugo, La Union Saturday afternoon.

Out of the 11 fatalities, 8 were killed instantly in the accident that took place at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. One of them was even decapitated.

Three others died while undergoing treatment at the Baguio General Hospital.

Authorities are still confirming the identities of the fatalities, most of whom did not have identification cards.

At least 25 people injured in the accident were rushed to Baguio General Hospital.

The passengers, reportedly from Laguna, had just finished visiting churches in Baguio City before the accident.

Traffic police said the bus must have lost its brakes. One of those injured was the bus driver.
