Monday of the First Week in Ordinary Time (January 10, 2011)

First Reading (Hebrew 1:1-6)
Responsorial Psalm (Ps 97:1 and 2b, 6 and 7c, 9)
Gospel (Mk 1:14-20)

Jesus has chosen Simon, Andrew, James and John to be his followers, to be fishers of men. The message of salvation that Jesus brought in this world as the incarnate word must be announced to all corners of the world. Jesus wants that his disciples to have a full grasp of this message by giving them a chance to see and experience this salvation as they lived with him. These people will constitutes some of the so called twelve apostles. Those who accompany Jesus in his everyday life during his ministerial days until his resurrection.

Not all of us can be come clerics or nuns. however, we must understand that surely God has called us to follow Jesus in whatever vocation that we are living. What matter most is the willingness to follow Jesus even if it entail living someone or something behind for the greater of God.
