Lavishly he gives to the poor,
his justice stands firm forever.
His head will be raised in glory (Ps 111:9).

COLLECT

O God who, by the path of humility,
led Saint Martin de Porres
to the glory of heaven,
grant that we may so follow his splendid example now
as to be found worthy of a place with him on high in heaven.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, forever and ever.

Most clement God,
who in Saint Martin de Porres
deigned to do away with the old man
and to create the new one according to your own desire,
mercifully grant that we too, renewed in like manner,
may offer a sacrifice of atonement pleasing to you.

PREFACE

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Christ our Lord.
In the life and witness of your saints
you make your Church ever fruitful
with the creative strength of your Spirit
and give us an admirable sign of your love.
To fulfil the mystery of our salvation
you give us their example to inspire us
and commend us to their loving intercession.
With gratitude and wonder
we honour the memory of Saint Martin de Porres,
who served you with wholehearted loyalty
and now rejoices in the contemplation of your glory.
And so, with him and all the choirs of angels
we join our voices to raise the ceaseless hymn of praise:

Blessed the man who considers the poor and the weak;
the Lord will save him on the day of evil (Ps 40:2).

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

By the might of this sacrament,
we beseech you, O Lord,
through the example of Saint Martin,
to lead us ceaselessly in the way of your love,
and to complete in us the good work you have begun
for the day of Christ Jesus.
Who lives and reigns forever and ever.
