Feast of San Pedro Calungsod

Image
Feast of San Pedro Calungsod Theme: "Bata pa lang, banal na." Readings suggestion: Isaiah 6:8 — "Here I am, send me" / Mt 28:19-20 — Go and make disciples My dear young people,  Tingnan nyo katabi nyo. Ilang taon na kayo? 15? 17? 22? Si San Pedro Calungsod, 17 years old lang nung namatay. Three lessons from his short life — for all Kabataan ng San Pablo:  1. HINDI MO KAILANGANG MAGING PARI PARA MAGING MISSIONARY  Si Pedro hindi pari. Hindi seminarista. Sakristan, katekista, helper.  Pero anong ginawa niya? Sumama sa mission to Guam — 1668. Isipin nyo, Visaya, sumakay ng galleon, walang cellphone, walang GPS, walang Jollibee — for 4 years, nagtuturo ng katesismo, nagbibinyag kasama si Fr. San Vitores, nag-aalalay sa Misa. Kadalasan iniisip ng ...

Image
( Ito po ang bagong sulat ni Papa Francisco na nagtatalaga sa Katekista bilang isang Ministro ng Simbahang Katoliko) APOSTOLIC LETTER ISSUED "MOTU PROPRIO" BY THE SUPREME PONTIFF FRANCIS "ANTIQUUM MINISTERIUM" INSTITUTING THE MINISTRY OF CATECHIST   1. The ministry of Catechist in the Church is an ancient one. Theologians commonly hold that the first examples are already present in the writings of the New Testament. The service of catechesis may be traced back to those “teachers” mentioned by the Apostle in writing to the community of Corinth: “Some people God has designated in the Church to be, first, apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers; then, mighty deeds; then, gifts of healing, assistance, administration, and varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work mighty deeds? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? Strive eagerly for the greatest spiritual gifts. But I shall show you ...

The Diocesan Catechetical day will be on September 17, 2015 to be held in Alonte Sports Center in Binan City, Philippines in the province of Laguna.Unfortunately, I will not also be able to attend on the said event as I will represent the Catechetical Commision of the Diocese in Baguio on the same week for the Annual M...

Adelina 1 Elementary School 2015-2016

Image
As the school years has already begun and the school classes normalizes, we also tried to bring spiritual assistance to the students and teacher by having the Holy Spirit Mass. Asking God for His continual protection and care as well as guidance so that we might be wise enough to use the gift of intelligence. Yesterday, along with the catechists of the parish, we celebrated the Holy Mass in the Adelina 1 Elementary School students and teachers. As the Gospel of the day suggests (MT 9:1-8) we pray to get rid of the evil spirit in this world. Christ himself have taught us the power of prayer and the power of prayer of the humble ones like the little children. Teaching children about our faith is a tough one, all catechist and parents experience that difficulty. Yet, we have to remind ourselves that it is a part of our duty to get rid of the evil spirit comes first from the conversion of the heart on the belief that only through the power of our Lord Jesus Christ we can drive evil ...

To be holy requires heroism. Holiness is not an easy task. It is not only a struggle with people that might hinder us to undergo our deeper spiritual journey but also a struggle within to deprived yourselves of some conveniences for the sake of the Kingdom of God.  It be a simple denial of an hour of your telenovela for a time for mass or prayer and it is clearly that how simple it might be requires a certain extend of heroism for one to de...
