Summer apostolate preparation

Image
It was just recently that Fr. Christian Nalda inform me of the possibility of adopting 2 seminarians for their apostolate. There is no question about parishes adopting seminarians for apostolate this summer however there is a more advance information for.the priest they would like to stay. Some priest are wondering of the program because the program was usually on vicariate level and not on the parish level. Parishioners are wondering of their presence in the parish if their work is situated in other parishes. If ever that will be the case they are better to be housed in the parish of which they will undertake their apostolate. This has some bearing because we have to analyze even the programs of our apostolate. Are we giving the formation of the apostolate to the ideals of which the problem of our parishes are encountering or are we inserting some global problems that might not be present in our situation? Are we not adoptive to the needs of the parishes of which they will b...

On the Shedding of Blood

Image
"When Will Men Learn That Life Is Sacred?" VATICAN CITY, JULY 5, 2009 (Zenit.org).- Here is a translation of the address Benedict XVI gave today before and after praying the midday Angelus with crowds gathered in St. Peter's Square. * * * Dear brothers and sisters! In the past, the first Sunday of July was characterized by devotion to the most precious Blood of Christ. In the last century some of my venerable predecessors confirmed this [tradition] and Blessed John XXIII, with his apostolic letter "Inde a Primis" (June 30, 1960), explained its meaning and approved its litanies. The theme of blood linked to that of the Paschal Lamb is of primary importance in sacred Scripture. In the Old Testament the sprinkling of the blood of sacrificed animals represented and established the covenant between God and the people, as one reads in the Book of Exodus: "Then Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people saying: ‘This is the blood of the covenant that...

Holy Study (Banal na Pagaaral)

Image
Some people came to me for courtesy concerning their group and their activities. They have been here before for sometime before i came as their parish priest but has stopped coming here and moved to a new venue. They call themselves as "Banal na Pag-aaral", Holy Study. I do not know if that is the right translation in English for the said group. They are asking to be recognized as another group of the parish seeking holiness through the study of the Bible and through the eucharistic devotion. So, since the more, the merrier. As long as they comply with the policy of the parish, I see no objection about recognizing them. Blogs commenting Fr. Jessie's post

Eve of World Communication Day

Image
On the eve of the feast of ascension, i have made a realization that there are things that the faith has to be proclaimed as the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ have clearly stated that it must be proclaim in all Nations. It is also in cognizance with the celebration of the Catholic Church celebration of the 40th WORLD Communication Day. For the advance of years, communication technology have also been modernized to a considerable extent of which a lot of people now have taken for granted. I remember fifteen years ago that the common form of communication is through the use of snail mail. Before, it was called air mail. Due to the advent of powerful communication tools, it has become the snail one. The advent of new communication tools has reached us before but its affordability today have greatly affected us, it has been the tool for the majority not only for the elite. Before a cellphone that looks like a "refrigerator" costs more than 20 thousand pesos. Now, a cellphone wi...

PPC Meeting

Image
Every first saturday of the month is schedule for the meeting of the parish pastoral council of St. Augustine. This is to discuss the programs and the threshing out of some problem that the parish and its organizations are encountering.   One of the problem encountered is the practiced that every organization is being tasked to undertake medical and dental clinic to a certain place in the parishes ussually the barrio. The problem is that since it is handled by different organization, Some organization might find it difficult to undertake because it of their different charism. Somebody spoke that this is a venue to experience the plight of the poor in the parish. There is no question about it but it does not mean that you are equippred to handle the said apostolate. You could experience it by helping them according to your skill and resources but to handle the work is not for all. There is an alignment of different organization to certain charism. Christ himself taight us, you could not...
