Mass

Image
San Antonio Abad chapel, Bitin,Bay,Laguna.

Manila holds seminar for clergy on New Missal translation

MANILA, Jan. 16, 2012—The Archdiocese of Manila held a seminar for the clergy on the New English Translation of the Roman Missal last January 12 at the San Carlos Seminary in Makati City. The seminar was the first in a series aimed at catechizing the faithful on the changes made before the full implementation of the Missal on First Sunday of Advent this year. The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines has set a year-long catechesis for the new translation before it is implemented on the first Sunday of Advent. In a communiqué sent to the Manila clergy, Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle said the period of preparation is a chance to “re-catechize our people on the liturgical life of the Church, our culmen et fons, for priests and the lay faithful alike.” Seminar speakers include Fr. Genaro Diwa who discussed the Process of Translation and Catechesis on the New English Translation; Fr. Carmelo Arada, Jr. on The Art of Presiding and Fr. Godwin Tatlonghari on the Sample Catecheti...

Ayette's wake

Image
After My Mass in Brgy. Chapels of Sta. Cruz and Tranca, I proceeded to Del, Remedio, San Pablo City for the wake of Ayette. She died last Monday due to cancer of colon. She was diagnosed of such illness two years ago. I have tried to visit her for the last two months but I could not have the opportunity of seeing here because she was sleeping or at the hospital for treatment. The Last time I saw her alive was last Holy Saturday. I celebrated the Mass there and spent some moment with the family and friends of Ayette. May Ayette rest in Peace. Her interment will take place on 8th of this month at 8:00 AM Blogs commenting Fr. Jessie's post

St. Augustine Chapel Construction

Image
The president of the Philippines have moved the holiday of June 12 as the Independence Day celebration to June 9 for a long holiday. It is also an occasion from which the Lay Ministers of the Holy Communion can start the construction of the St. Augustine Chapel. Actually it is the renovation of the Old Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel building. Eucharistic Adoration was stopped even before I assume office as the Parish Priest. I have contemplated the continuation of the said devotion but as I observe the present situation of the Parish it is not possible as of the moment. From the very start there are few who would like to continue the devotion but I challenge them to give me people who can devote their time to fill the slot to stay in the chapel one hour each week. For some time, I have waited for response and I have received none. Yes, nada. The said edifice was been used for meetings of small groups for some time. But since the parish need to boost the devotion to the Patr...
