M/V Kim Nirvana

Image
inquirer Yesterday, a boat named M/V Kim Nirvana capsizes as it leaves Ormoc city towards Camote Islands. It is believed that more than 35 persons were dead. Let us include them in our prayers. God our Father, Your power brings us to birth, Your providence guides our lives, and by Your command we return to dust. Lord, those who die still live in Your presence, their lives change but do not end. I pray in hope for my family, relatives and friends, and for all the dead known to You alone. In company with Christ, Who died and now lives, may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your praise forever and ever. Amen. As an update, today July 4, 2015, 8:57 Am, 52 were confirmed dead, Let us pray for the repose of their souls.

Why go to Church?

Image
(Again somebody sent this one to me) If you're spiritually alive , you're going to love this! If you're spiritually dead , you won't want to read it. If you're spiritually curious , there is still hope! Why Go To Church? A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons.. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all." This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: "I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire...

Priest shot dead in Cebu, robbery hold-up eyed

Image
( A repost from CBCPNews) MANILA, July 7, 2009—Cebu Archbishop Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal called on the Cebuano faithful not only to pray but do acts of reparation for the desecration of a priest, Fr. Jovencio Rabusa, 46 years old, who was shot dead by two still unidentified persons last night. Msgr. Achilles Dakay, spokesman of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cebu, said Fr. Rabusa was on his way to his sister’s house on South Coastal Property road in Cansolong, Talisay City when two persons accosted him at about 8:00 P.M. Monday. Interviewed by CBCPNews, Msgr. Dakay said the culprits took the victim’s two cellphones but left his wallet behind. He said the victim was walking to his sister’s house when the hold-up took place. Quoting a young witness, Msgr. Dakay said one of the armed men put his arm around the victim and shot him. Earlier reports said the victim had gunshot wounds in his arm, nape and buttocks. It was learned Fr. Rabusa expired a few minutes after being rushed to...
