PPCRV RECOMMENDATIONS AFTER ELECTIONS 2007

Image
PPCRV RECOMMENDATIONS AFTER ELECTIONS 2007 FOR THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES The President has declared that the remaining three years of her term would be the “legacy phase” – we of the PPCRV are heartened by this declaration. We thus ask her with courageous political will to take the actions necessary to restore public trust in the Commission on Elections, which is the government’s lead electoral institution. Thus too our elections will regain credibility, so greatly damaged in recent elections. 1. In February 2008 , exactly six months from now, the present Chairman of the COMELEC and two of its Commissioners will be retiring. There will then be four (4) vacancies (there is already one vacancy at present) to be filled in the Commission. With due respect we strongly urge with regard to the selection of nominees for the vacancies: - that all “election stakeholders” be provided due opportunity to discuss and formulate the criteria for nominations for future members of...

Candidates Attended the Celebration of the Eucharist

Image
The United opposition slate headed by candidate for governor along with his followers and fellow candidates of the same party asked for the celebration of the Mass for the success of their campaign and for the peaceful May election. many also attended the celebration, but the church was not full packed. They have not even been able to secure all the pews of the Church. Some have asked me if it is possible to hold a Eucharistic Celebration with the success of election result in the favor of a party. Presumable the one who asked the question belongs to the contender candidate. I replied, yes, of course because anybody could ask God to be the winner of the election. I aslo told the inquirer that the other party could also offer the celebration of the Eucharist. And since it is this party that asked for prayers, I will attend to their need. However it is to God who will grant the said petition. Going back to the celebration of the Mass. During the homily I told the faithful that in the Gos...

Peace covenant signing

Image
I was invited by the Bay Police chief as witness for the signing og the peace covenant. The challenging or the opposition party did not arrive, the reason given was conflict with previous appointment. After the signing of the covenant, even if the other party was not present, a suggestion came out of the need of candidate forum to be held in a neutral ground. And the Church is generally the accepted neutral ground. So, I have to informed the coordinator of the Parish Pastoral Council concerning this matter. For additional information concerning the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting of the parish (PPCRV) please log on http://frjessie.wordpress.com. Asking for Prayers

Image
Candidates from my former parish belonging to the opposition came and visit me. They are asking for Prayer. So, I asked them to go to the Church and I blessed them. Vice mayor Nor Briones running for Mayor, Councilor Pitchie Aguado running for vice-mayor and the following are for counselors. Andrew Aguja, Boni de Castro, Cora Marana, Delo Magtibay and Jojo Gapol. I told them that they have a good political platform but if they lose there is nothing to be achieved on. However, if they win, they should fulfill their promises. Their political platform should not only be a written document, it has to be transformesdto realities.
