Sakramento ng kasal

Image
In Filipino weddings, we love the ayos — gown, barong, entourage, drone shot. You chose beautiful readings. Let me give you three words to bring to your marriage — words that will save your marriage when the flowers wilt and the lights are off. From your readings: 1. LOVE IS A DECISION, NOT JUST A FEELING St. Paul says in 1 Cor 13 — Love is patient, kind, not jealous. Note: he does not say love is a kilig . He says love is a character . Today you feel kilig — natural, you're in love. But next year, after bills, puyat sa baby, selos, tampo — kilig will fade. And that is when real love begins. Feeling says: "I love you because you make me happy." Decision says: "I love you even when you don't make me happy — because I made a vow before God." Sa Tagalog, ang pag-ibig hindi lang ...

Are you Afraid?

Lucas 12, 1-7 — First day after the "Woes." Jesus now turns from Pharisees to His disciples. Private coaching after public confrontation. Gospel: Luke 12:1-7 Meanwhile a crowd of many thousands gathered... Jesus began to speak first to His disciples: "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you whispered in private rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body and after that can do no more. I will show you whom to fear: fear Him who after killing has power to cast into Gehenna. Yes, I tell you, fear Him. Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, you are of more value than many sparrows." HOMILY: Three Fears, One Freedom Yesterday Jesus said ...

Ash Wednesday 2017 Homily of Pope Francis: Return to Me with All Your Heart

Image
Return to Me with All Your Heart “Return to me with all your heart… return to the Lord” (Jl 2:12, 13). The prophet Joel makes this plea to the people in the Lord’s name. No one should feel excluded: “Assemble the aged, gather the children, even infants at the breast, the bridegroom… and the bride” (v. 16). All the faithful people are summoned to come and worship their God, “for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love” (v. 13). We too want to take up this appeal; we want to return to the merciful heart of the Father. In this season of grace that begins today, we once again turn our eyes to his mercy. Lent is a path: it leads to the triumph of mercy over all that would crush us or reduce us to something unworthy of our dignity as God’s children. Lent is the road leading from slavery to freedom, from suffering to joy, from death to life. The mark of the ashes with which we set out reminds us of our origin: we were taken from the earth, ...

Dapat itong sugpuin at pagtagumpayan.

Opening of the Golden Jubilee of the Diocese of San Pablo

Image
Although it was been discussed before in the Presbyteral assembly or General assembly on the exact date of the Jubilee which will fall next year to be exact. Fifty years will start next year not this year. But since it was already been promulgated even during the three year preparation during the episcopate of Bishop Leo M. Drona.  We have to deal with these matter as it is that we are celebration it a year ahead of the exact time. This might me a small matter but this is a simple mathematics that should also be considered by those in the administration. we have also to consider that Jubilee year as celebrated in the Bible starts with the 50 years inclusive. The Diocese have planned a series of celebration during the year. The first is of course the opening which also marks the opening of the Holy Door of the Jubilee year of the Diocese of San Pablo which was held last Saturday in Cathedral of St. Paul, the First Hermit. Let us thank God for giving us this day...
