Solo Parents Welfare Act, have you heard of it? Thanks to Ms. Zena Bernardo who was been active for a long period of time for the  welfare of the Solo parents that has become a part of the law of the country even on the Year 2000 signed by then President Joseph Ejercito Estrada.. It was been a long time since I heard from Zena this before but I was been alarmed when she posted on Facebook on a propose activity for Teen Solo Parents. It has struck me that, hey there is also a part of our society that we must also see and take care of. Primarily it let me pause for a moment to ask these questions: Is there any solo parent in my parish? How many are they? What are the age bracket? How could you categorized the teen solo parent?. What are the circumstances of their situations of becoming solo parents? Browsing the internet, I found out a copy of the said Solo Parent Welfare Act of  2000. Pro-Life Advocacy: Its Urgency in Our Present Society

My talk will not be long. In this talk I will focus on why it is urgent that we work hard so that the House Bill 4244 or the so called Reproductive Health Bill will not be passed by Congress and the Senate. I will also explain and refute the ideas on which those who are in favor of the HB 4244 base themselves. Before anything else I would like to remind ourselves of the broader or complete meaning of pro-life advocacy. We should defend and promote life from the womb to the tomb in all stages of life. Here I would like to quote lengthily from the encyclical letter of Blessed John Paul II, “Evangelium Vitae, the Gospel of Life, No. 3” “Every individual, precisely by reason of the mystery of the Word of God who was made flesh (cf. Be God’s instrument in changing society, bishop tells families

CEBU City, Jan. 14, 2012—A Catholic bishop has called on Filipino families to become God’s instrument in changing the face of society through witness of life. Jaro Auxiliary Bishop Gerardo Alminaza said the nation’s celebration of the feast of Sto. Niño should lead Christian families to realize and live their “liberating and transformative role as the focal point of evangelization and the nucleus of faith-witnessing.” He noted that the theme of the celebration dubbed as “Sto. Niño, Refuge of the Filipino Christian Family” has a powerful message on the situation and role of today’s Filipino families in bringing change to society.
