Morning Funeral Mass

Image
F uneral Mass at 8:00 in the morning. In this part of the world it is not a customary to bury the dead at that early hour. Usually it is done in the afternoon. When I happened to visit my cousin Fr. Lorenzo Torreflores in Laog City the opposite is the true. I forgot to ask why or I was told so but forgotten the answer. Likely, it is for the convenience of the faithful to do so in the early morning because the sun rays seems sharper in the afternoon than in any part of the country. Blogs commenting Fr. Priests' Blogs

Image
T here is a large collection of Catholic blogs in one of the blogsites of the blogspot maintained by someone named Andrea based on the work of Gen X Revert. This is an extensive work. However, I would like also to make my own based on the said collection. yes, I could send all the materials through them but it is also good to note that the work of catholics and our thoughts could also enlighten one another. My primary purpose is to make a directory of the collection of blogs by priest. It is also a way of understanding catholic priests if you could read their thoughts, not only the doctrines that we hold. Some people, especially here in the Philippines thought that policies are based on the personality of the priest. In some way or another, the firm and impact of certain policies varies because of the personality but it does not change it. It's firmness differs. There are also some policies base on each dioceses, congregation and parishes. It depends upon the situation. Much is w...

Feast of St. Joseph/Labor Day

Image
Today, we celebrates the Feast of St. Joseph, husband of Mary, and the protector of the Holy family. The feats of St. Joseph is being celebrated in the Church Calendar twice. Th other one is every March 19 as the protector of the Church and model of a good father. Today, we reflect more on his being a carpenter, a worker, someone who have been an exemplar of a good laborer and the champion of the causes of labor. Of course, there is no such thing as labor issues of today during the time of St. Joseph. However, we look on St. Joseph as the one who could be an image of which the rights of laborer could be protected. One of the most powerful description of this man is a " just man ". An Honor bestowed to him by the Church As we honor, St. Joseph, the patron of workers may we be like him a just man, both as worker and as employer. One of my barrios, Puypuy celebrates its fiesta today in Honor of Sto. Nino. Though, the church celebrates today the feast of St. Joseph, there are cer...

V atican II have reiterieted the role of lay in the Catholic Church. In one of the sixteen documents of the Church " Lumen Gentium " a section is dedicated for it and it is incorporated in all other documents. Here in this collection, we will see on how they proclaim it and defend it. According to several observation, including mine, the converts to Catholic faith are the most enthusistic. Good shepherd, Good Sheep

Jn. 10:27-30 Our Gospel today speaks of the relationship of the shepherd and his sheep. And I believe that this is the model that any relationship should emulate. every relationship , in some way or another has a reflection of sheep-shepherd model, there is always somebody who guides and been guided by. If Christ is our Good Shepherd, we as his sheep should also be like Him - good. How can we be. Jesus Christ clearly speak it up. There are three important factors that we should not forget. 1. Hearing. We should listen to our Good shepherd. faith comes first by hearing. God speaks to us in many ways, we must know how to listen. Last Sunday, I have announced of the candidates forum on the local level here in our town, simply because it will help you to listen to their political platforms. So that you might know who is the right person for the position. However, it was unfortunates that it was canceled. I canceled it through the recommendation of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsib...

PPCRV Volunters

Image
The Parish Pastoral Council have intensified its drive for the recruitment of volunters. We want to raise the volunters from the fifty persons to 141. The municipality has 141 precints to be watched during the election scattered among its villages. Some prospects are asking for a fee just like the watchers of political candidates. Sorry, but this one is free, a volunter. Others are afraid of the violatile situation of the local nominees. They do not want to be identified because other political parties are also recruiting them. Some political parties technique is to get as many poll watchers because it could secure them their votes. We are also in need of financial resources. We need to fed these volunters for a day's work, some even will stay more for the counting of ballots. We need also bottled waters. Late that afternoon, I also met the members of young professional who are in-charge of Marian devotion during may in offering flowers to Mary and asking for her intercession. One ...
