Kumpisalang Bayan

Image
Somebody is asking to add description to this event, this event was posted in my account in Facebook. I could not tract the one asking it, just flash in my screen as a part of the notification. I though before that there is no need to do so because it is already a part of the Lenten preparation. However, we should also go to the basic reminding ourselves that there are those who are not well verse to our natural flow of Christian devotion during the 40 days of preparation for the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Chris . Kumpisalang Bayan is what we commonly named the event where Confession is held in the parish through the help of the neighboring priests of the nearby parishes of religious institutions. this is to help the parish cope with the massive attendance of those who would like to receive the sacrament of reconciliation that we usually announced during the Lenten and Advent liturgical time.. This is not to substitute the regular time for parish confession schedules. We...

Tips of Making a Good Confession

Image
I would like to share these tips from OSV Newsweekly  on how to make a good confession not only on this time of advent but for all seasons. Father Steve Schultz, parochial vicar of Our Lady of Angels Church in Woodbridge, Virginia, offers the following tips on going to confession: 1. Prayerfully prepare! It’s considerate to those who are waiting in line behind you, especially if they need to confess before Mass in order to receive. 2. Do this preparation with an examination of conscience. Many different kinds are available. There are ones based on the Ten Commandments; the Virtues; your particular vocation; for adults; for children; etc. Two general questions should lead to specifics: In what ways did I sin? In what way(s) did I fail to do the good I ought to have?  3. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Think about what you’ve made friends with that keeps you from a true friendship with God. We really do Greed? Pride? Selfishness? Being lukewarm? Lust? Fear...

Wrong Software

Image
It is only now that I realized that Ritchie is using the wrong software for the project I assigned to him. I asked him to make a graphic design for the turpuline as a part of the preparation for the Fiesta of the Patron Saint, St. Augustine. Yah, He make it but not on the software I asked him to do. Maybe because he is more use on the adobe page maker than the photoshop. It was only when he asked me to check it out, it was only then that I found out that he was using the pagemaker rather than the photoshop. I asked him before to install the photoshop on the other computer so that he could start working. He did not even installed it. I believe that he do not know the different usage of the said programs. I told him that his work is only good for stampita or stamps not for turpuline. Every Friday afternoon, I scheduled as a confession time for Licean students that usually lasted for two hours for the whole section. Today it lasted for one hour and fortyfive minutes I was exhausted. The ...

Maitim

Image
I have a barrio named Maitim (black). it is still within the vicinity of poblacion proper, so there is no regula mass being held there. However, today, as a part of the program of "Dalaw ni San Agustin" (visit of St. Augustine) to every barangay, I celebrated my Mass there. it has some number of atandance but the most sad of it is that is is situated along the main road whic make it too noisy even if there is a public audio system. During my homily in this program I asked two things about St. Augustine. My question were what was the title of the book of the autobiography of St. Augustine and the title of the book which he envisioned of what heaven and heaven on earth shall be. They are humble enough to admit that they have not known any book written by the said saint. So, I am starting from scratch, I thought of myself. It seems that there is a lot of thing that should be done in respect for the extensive knowledge of the saint. People from other part of the country comes to ...

Confession (Confirmation)

Image
Liceo Los Banos have asked the bishop to hold a special confirmation for the Liceo de Bay for this year aside from the scheduled confirmation every year before the town fiesta. I have to hear their confession to prrepare them for the holy and meaningful reception of the said sacrament. There are 127 students in line for the said sacrament.

Meeting

In kumpisalang Bayan in Immaculate Concepcion parish, Los banos, Laguna, I was not able to take some pictures, we were almost complete then except for one. One of the discussion that we have been to was the policy of the diocese concerning the repair and construction of the churches and parish convent. There was a moratorium for six months. A circular letter was sent over to all of us concerning this matter. We discussed that if the circular letter which prohibits any major repair and construction for the period of six months after the reception of the new parish assignment. The gray part is that idt does not specifically points out what is the meaning of major repair and construction. The discussion arises because some priest have made some repairs already a lot od speculation about this matter. I told the group that if it is possible somebody should keep the bishop to clarify all areas before sending the letter or clear it up in the presbyteral meeting.

Preparation

Image
One of the two couples who are scheduled to be married tomorrow morning. Confession is one of the important preparation in order to be opened to the grace of God on the reception of the blessing of God in their marriage vows.

Confession

Image
Couples to be married confesses their sins to God through the priest in preparation for their marriage a day before their scheduled date of wedding. This is a spiritual preparation so that they are worthy to receive the sacraments of matrimony and communion. This is also an act of placing oneself to the grace of God. Marvin and Lea are making their penance in the front of the blessed sacrament.

Confession

Confession All day, since early this morning I make my rounds to the two biggest public school in this town to hear for confession for children wishes to receive the first communion. Children from the Sta. Maria Elementary School and Bagumbayan Elementary School. They are schedule to receive communion this coming Friday. It is not only the quantity but also because some students cannot yet pray even the Lord’s Prayer in Filipino. So, the student catechists have to work extra time. They are only allocated 30 minutes in the school to teach religion once a week.
