Father's day 2015

Image
Several civil celebrations of the state of life sometimes becomes commercialized but there is no harm of praying for them. The CBCP through the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy inserted a reminder last Sunday, June 14, to pray for all the fathers. being faithful to it I prayed the prayer suggested by the ORDO on the anticipated Mass. After praying, one of the fathers told me that the celebration is this coming Sunday not this Sunday, When the Mass has concluded, I searched the internet and come to realization that yes Father's Day falls on the third Sunday of June. Wee, there is no harm in praying again for them this coming Sunday. I am also posting here the prayer for the Father's Day. We thank god for our fathers who like our Father in heaven constantly love and protect us. May they really guide us and lead us into the way towards our God the Father.

A Catechist Prayer

Image
Father of all Families, you have called me to serve the family in truth and in love as catechist. May I be faithful to this call, rooted in your Word and open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Mai I use these gifts especially the gifts of faith, hope and love, to serve the family as a witness to you, who are love and life, and the source and destiny of all families. Let your Spirit enlighten my mind and strengthen  my hears so that I can be a path of Chris's love to families especially those in need, the homebound and aged, the disable and disheartened. Through the intercession of Mary and Joseph, I pray for the Church, the Bride of Christ, whose mission to build a civilization of love passes through the family.  Amen

Surely, God will show us the way of other programs and activities that might transpire as we go on to assist the families of the migrant workers. Be God’s instrument in changing society, bishop tells families

CEBU City, Jan. 14, 2012—A Catholic bishop has called on Filipino families to become God’s instrument in changing the face of society through witness of life. Jaro Auxiliary Bishop Gerardo Alminaza said the nation’s celebration of the feast of Sto. Niño should lead Christian families to realize and live their “liberating and transformative role as the focal point of evangelization and the nucleus of faith-witnessing.” He noted that the theme of the celebration dubbed as “Sto. Niño, Refuge of the Filipino Christian Family” has a powerful message on the situation and role of today’s Filipino families in bringing change to society. Alminaza, who is also convenor of the Visayas Clergy Discernment Group, reflected how families nowadays are greatly endangered by the hedonistic values spread by the media. “Today, families are greatly attacked by worldly values, decadent media, internet, and modern gadgetry,” he said. “Moreover, a sizable number of marginalized Filipino families are livin...
