CBCP Statement for the CATHOLIC RESPONSE TO THE IGLESIA NI CRISTO RALLIES

Image
Sons and Daughters of the Church, Citizens of the Republic Catholic Response To The Iglesia Ni Cristo Rallies What do we Catholics do as our brothers and sisters of the Iglesia ni Cristo throng around the EDSA Shaw area? We, your bishops, offer you these guidelines: 1. PRAY WITHOUT CEASING for a peaceful and just resolution of the present dispute, in a manner both pleasing to God and in conformity with the democratic convictions enunciated in our Constitution. 2. BE CHARITABLE AT ALL TIMES AND IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES. Jesus, the Lord, willed His disciples to be known by their love. No Catholic should fan the flames of dissension by rumor-mongering and by inflammatory statements. Let all be kind in disposition, respectful in speech and prudent in action. 3. SEEK ENLIGHTENMENT. We appeal to our Catholic lawyers, jurists and law professors to contribute to the on-going discourse in a constructive manner, without condemnation. We seek to be enlightened on what the f...

Primer on the Beliefs of Iglesia ni Kristo

Image
The Commission on the Doctrine of the Faith of Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines had released a primer on Belief om the Iglesia ni Kristo to guide the Filipino Catholics on their quest for answers especially that they will celebrate their centennial celebration this year. It should be noted that this is not an attack on their faith but an explanation on our part for those Catholic faithful who have question about the faith of Iglesia ni Kristo  and our stand on this issue. This was signed and release last March but it is the first time that I see this in one of the post in Facebook. Parish Pilgrimage

Image
Visita Iglesia is a Spanish phrase which means visiting churches. The original Filipino Catholic tradition is a Holy Thursday event after the Last Supper celebration wherein the faithful visits the exposed the blessed sacrament in seven chosen churches for veneration until midnight. However, some faithful use also this term in visiting churches aside from the time mentioned above as long as it is within the time of Lenten season. Some church official would like to use term Parish Pilgrimage instead.  Whatever might be the term used, one thing is sure it is a religious activity that the Catholic faithful see as an act of piety that strengthen one's faith. Here is one of the route of the Parish Pilgrimage of the St. Martin de Porres parishioners from Adelina 1, San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines. It includes the map and prayer of the station of the cross.   Lakbay Dasal 2013 by

Rene Manipol
