12th Hour of vigil to the Holy Sacrament of the Altar.

Image
As we celebrate today the feast of St. Alphonsus de Ligouri, Bishop and Doctor of the Church and founder of the Redemptorist Order, I thank God for the love that St. Alphonsus have poured out to Jesus Christ through the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament of which he drew strength to perform his daily activities in the proclamation of the love of God. The parish have also sailed through the attempt to revive the devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, we fondly called Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration that was been popular on the Diocese during the 80's but lost momentum since the 90's and onward. Some people are keeping asking me to revive it. However, this devotional practice needs a well coordinated efforts and continual reminders. I remember, during my diaconate when I was assigned in St. Isidore parish of Calauan, I cannot remember the exact date but surely it was between 1992 to 1993. i was been instructed by the Bishop then Pedro N. Bantigue to look for people to devote...

11th Hour Vigil to the Holy Eucharist, the Holy Blood and Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ Every Thursday

Inspired by the Gospel last Sunday of the double miracles on healing of the woman with hemorrhage and raising to life of the daughter of Jairus (Mk. 5: 21-43) had moved me to spearhead this vigil to the Holy Eucharist starting 7:00 Am to 7:00 Pm every Thursday. Since the faith we believed enshrined the God of life and the total abandonment to God's power and wisdom as given by the examples of Jairus pleading for the life of his daughter and the faith of the woman whose faith tells her that a simple touch to the cloak of Jesus is enough. On the same way, what we need most is not the assurance of God's power over sickness and death because we know that  our God is capable enough to grant us that but most especially to the belief that it will bestow it to us as Jesus gives it to Jairus and to the woman. The adoration to the Blessed Sacrament was been part of the history of the most of the parishes in the Diocese of San Pablo that waned through the time because there ...

First Communion, Summer Edition

Image
First Holy Communion is one of the yearly activities of the parish life. here in saint Martin de Porres, we do it every December and January. it is not much of a large group because this parish is a small one, and I may say a smallest in the Diocese of San Pablo in terms of land area and population. However, we decided to make use of the time we spent with the children during the Marian May flower devotion to gather those who have not been able to participate in the last First Communion celebration. We gather a ample number of first communicants, 14 to be exact. Sometimes, we see it as a waste of time of training 14 individual for this summer, why not wait for this coming December instead? I asked myself. Reflecting deeper, I realized that it is not the number that count but more on the seriousness of the Church to offer her services to a maximum capacity that it can offer so that the faithful may have a wide opportunity to received the sacraments in. Is 14 a defeating number in t...

St. Catherine’s Prayer for Priests

Image
St. Catherine’s Prayer for Priests Father, I beseech You, direct the hearts and wills of the servants of Your Bride, the Holy Church, unto Yourself, so that they may follow the poor, bleeding, humble, and gentle Lamb of God on the Way of the Cross. Make them angels in the shape of men! For after all, it is they who must administer and distribute the Body and Blood of Your Only Begotten Son. Amen.
