12th Hour of vigil to the Holy Sacrament of the Altar.

As we celebrate today the feast of St. Alphonsus de Ligouri, Bishop and Doctor of the Church and founder of the Redemptorist Order, I thank God for the love that St. Alphonsus have poured out to Jesus Christ through the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament of which he drew strength to perform his daily activities in the proclamation of the love of God. The parish have also sailed through the attempt to revive the devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, we fondly called Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration that was been popular on the Diocese during the 80's but lost momentum since the 90's and onward. Some people are keeping asking me to revive it. However, this devotional practice needs a well coordinated efforts and continual reminders. I remember, during my diaconate when I was assigned in St. Isidore parish of Calauan, I cannot remember the exact date but surely it was between 1992 to 1993. i was been instructed by the Bishop then Pedro N. Bantigue to look for people to devote...

Doctors of the Roman Catholic Church

Image
As we celebrates today the feast of Saint Lawrence of Brindisi known also as one of the Doctors of the Roman Catholic Church, it comes to my mind that i have posted before the list of the doctors proclaimed by the church but could not find it. I am writing this to list the 36 doctors of the church as of this time. They are called doctors of the church because their writings and preaching have been useful to the church and the faithful for a deepening of the faith in our God. This includes the name, duration of their lifetime, designated by whose Pope, as well as the year it was promulgated and the title given to each individual. There are 32 men and 4 women. The latest of them given the title is St. Gregory of Narek designated by the present Pope Francis. 1. St. Albert The Great - 1206 - 1280 - December 16, 1931 by Pius XI - Doctor of Science 2 St. Alphonsus Liguori1696 - 1787 - July 7, 1871 by Pius IX - Morality and Marian Doctor 3 St. Ambrose - 339-3...

Prayer to Saint Benedict

Image
Admirable Saint and Doctor of Humility, you practiced what you taught, assiduously praying for God's glory and lovingly fulfilling all work for God and the benefit of all human beings. You know the many physical dangers that surround us today often caused or occasioned by human inventions. Guard us against poisoning of the body as well as of mind and soul, and thus be truly a "Blessed" one for us. Amen. Dear St. Benedict, you are a "blessing" indeed, as your name indicates. Practicing what you preached, you founded the monastic tradition of the West by joining prayer to labor for God---both liturgical and private prayer. Help all religious to follow their Rule and be true to their vocation. May they labor and pray for the world to the greater glory of God. Amen. Glorious St. Benedict, sublime model of virtue, pure vessel of God's grace! Behold me humbly kneeling at your feet. I implore you in your loving kindness to pray for me before t...

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 4:16-30.

Image
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 4:16-30. When Jesus came to Nazareth where he had been brought up, he entered the synagogue on the Sabbath as he usually did. He stood up to read and they handed him the book of the prophet Isaiah. Jesus then unrolled the scroll and found the place where it is written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and new sight to the blind; to free the oppressed and announce the Lord’s year of mercy.” Jesus then rolled up the scroll, gave it to the attendant and sat down, while the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he said to them, “Today these prophetic words come true even as you listen.” All agreed with him and were lost in wonder, while he kept on speaking of the grace of God. Nevertheless they asked, “Who is this but Joseph’s son?” So he said, “Doubtless you will quote me the saying: Doctor, heal yourself! Do here in your town what they...

A prayer before Logging onto the internet

Image
A prayer before logging onto the internet Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Your image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Your Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech You, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Filipino Version Kapampangan Version
