Funeral Mass for Melquiades

Image
I presided the celebration of the Mass this afternoon for Melquiades in San Pedro memorial Homes. God give him rest. Fr. Reggie of the Christ the King Parish have some previous commitment. The cemetery belongs to his parish. There is a large crowd gathered around the coffin near the grave. The family requested that the Mass be celebrated there because they reside in Magsaysay. It would be inconvenient for them to come to the parish and be back again in their place of which the cemetery is already adjacent to them. it is also the first time for me to celebrate funeral Mass in the cemetery. It was the first time that I entered that memorial park. I was looking for the guard to seek direction but I could not found him. I search the whole area until I saw a group of people convening in one area. there I saw the guard, I really do not know if he is guarding the corpse or the crowd. When I finished the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist praying for Mequiades, I saw the guard near the guard...

Busy day as ussual

Filling the posts especially during busy days have really been painful because I have to reflect and think of a lot of flashbacks that happen in my life especially if the post have been left vacant for two week or more. Just like this entry. I was been lazy or I have no time to write it down in my journal. The very fact that I have used this blog in the Internet is because I do not want to rewrite what I would like to post. Besides from my not so good penmanship it will require myself to edit my previous hand written piece. Of course, Sunday as the rest of Sundays in the life of a catholic parish priest is a hectic schedule, the busiest day in the life of a pastor. St. Augustine parish has an everyday mass at early in the morning. On Sundays, there are four (4) regular masses in the parish church and three in the barrangay. I get the two regular masses in the parish and one in the barrangay and reserve the last one for funeral Mass every one o'clock in the afternoon. many p...

Morning Funeral Mass

Image
F uneral Mass at 8:00 in the morning. In this part of the world it is not a customary to bury the dead at that early hour. Usually it is done in the afternoon. When I happened to visit my cousin Fr. Lorenzo Torreflores in Laog City the opposite is the true. I forgot to ask why or I was told so but forgotten the answer. Likely, it is for the convenience of the faithful to do so in the early morning because the sun rays seems sharper in the afternoon than in any part of the country. Blogs commenting Fr. Breakthrough

The parish is beset with problem. One of them is them is when there are numbers of funerals. usually people tend to schedule their burial on Saturdays or Sundays. It is also the day when all of the priests have their own schedules. Looking for priests on these specified days is difficult. Ussually parishioners would like to have their funerals with mass. Ussually they end up with funeral blessing. So I decided to implement a certain policy that will cater their spiritual needs by declairing that on one oclock of Saturdays and Sundays, there is certainty that their dead wil have a funeral Mass with the condition that they are willing to share it with others to be given the same services on that same day and time. For some parishes this is already practiced for a long time but not...
