Yes, it is official, Blessed Pedro Calungsod, a Filipino lay catechist and martyr, will be raised to the sainthood as the decree of the congregation of saints was promulgated by the congregation of saints headed by the prefect  Cardinal Angelo Amato S.D.B  as approved by the Pope Benedict XVI along with other 22 personalities.  Blessed Calungsod will be the second Filipino saint to be canonized, the first one is St. Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila. The date of the canonization will be announced later.
