Deathbed Ordination?

Image
So far, it is the first time that I have encountered that a seminarian was ordained a deacon and a priest at his deathbed. My experiences have made me believed that such thing is impossible to happen. I have heard several seminarians who were barred from ordination because of sickness some terminal and others not. Maybe they do not have the persistence of Rev. Fr. William Carmona. Or Maybe we are being reminded by God through the ordaining prelate Bishop David Choby of the Diocese of Nashville that “The ordination of Father Carmona, which occurred in the face of the certainty of death, reflects the Paschal Mystery,” Bishop Choby continued. “That is how our own lives are transformed in the death and resurrection of Jesus.” The Ordination of Rev. A Prayer For Priests

Image
A Prayer  For Priests Divine Savior Jesus Christ, Thou are the Good Shepherd who gives His life for His sheep. Oh, be in a very special way the Good Shepherd of those poor lost priests who are also appointed by Thee to be leaders of Thy people, but who have broken the oath of their holy ordination and have become unfaithful to their exalted calling. Bestow upon these poorest of the poor the very fullness of that pastoral solicitude with which Thou dost so faithfully seek the sheep that are lost! Touch their hearts with the irresistible ray of grace which emanates from Thine all-merciful love! Enlighten their minds and strengthen their wills, that they may turn away from all sin and error and come back to Thy holy altar and to Thy people. Amen Imprimatur - Bishop John F. Coming Back

Image
It was been a long time since my last post. Hoping to start again this month. I was caught up with a lot of parish works and commitments. It is going back to the basic again of tuning myself to blogging. Hoping to post some notes, it seems difficult to write again and to find time to do so. The parish is preparing for the ordination of one of its native son. For more than 438 years, it will be the first time that this parish church will hold an ordination. There is also a construction going on with the restoration of the window siding of the Church. I will try to elaborate these things and much more later. Blogs commenting Fr. Jessie's post
