In reaction to the new ruling of the United States Supreme Court on marriage equality or same sex marriage. The US Supreme Court was asked whether banning same-sex marriages was in accord with the Constitution. It has recently ruled that such a ban is unconstitutional. That is the gist as well as the significance of the ruling of the US Supreme Court. Its reference is the US Constitution. Fortunately for human persons, there is so much more to us and to our dignity than what the law prescribes. While human positive law is the distillation of human experience of orderly and organized life, it does not exhaust human wisdom, nor does it have room for the wisdom of which God makes us participants. Today is a non working holiday here in the Philippines commemorating the assasination of one of the national heroes of the Filipinos, Benigno Aguino. A former senator and husband of Corazon Aquino who later became the first woman president of the country. The commemoration started last 2004. Many Filipinos are just praying that the present president Benigno Aquino the third will be as wise as his father.

CBCP to launch ‘Year of Mission’ on Jan. 14 MANILA, Jan. 12, 2012— Various Catholic bishops will gather on Saturday for the official launching of the ‘Year of Mission.’ Organizers said it will be a Mass to be led by Archbishop Socrates Villegas, vice president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, at the Shrine of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Pasay City. The CBCP has earlier declared 2012 as the “Year of the Pontifical Mission Societies” to mark the PMS’ 80th anniversary. “It is to be a grace-filled year, marked by renewed enthusiasm for dedicated service as Christ’s evangelizing disciples,” said Archbishop Jose Palma, CBCP President, in a pastoral exhortation.
