Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed

GOSPEL REFLECTION: All Souls' Day Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed  2nd November 2014 by Rev. Fr. Allen Baclor Abadines There is a tinge of sadness in my heart as I reflect on this Sunday's Gospel. This Sunday's Liturgy reminds of us of our loved ones who have passed on before us. We remember whom we love the most and whom we miss the most. When we lose a somebody we love so much, the pain will always linger. We can never move on. We only have to deal with it everyday of our lives. As we celebrate "All Souls Day," we commemorate our departed loved ones. Remembering them is like bringing back all the memories - the time we spent with them, all the joys, the laughter as well as the pains and struggles we've shared with them - all these can never be recreated. And that makes it all the more sad. But I find consolation in the very words of our Lord Jesus in today's Gospel. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you that are weary and a...

My Mother Turns 75

Actually, her birthday was yesterday, however because of the schedule of her sibling, we decided to make it a day after. Grace, Josie, Marybe along with their respective husbands and wives have decided to treat her with a simple celebration. I brought lechon, buko pie, and sinukmani, the rest were shared by my brother and sisters. I brought the lechon from Laguna because the last time we had our lechon , it was not tasty at all and crispy. To be able to buy something which they will not forget, I brought it from a respected lechonista of pansol, Calamba, Laguna. I have also to buy a car carrier to bring it to Marikina. john was furious then when I told him of my plan to buy nanny a lechon as a present simply because it will leave a stain and odor to the car. So I decided to buy a carrier. Though it was not a part of the budget. I have to find some means to buy it before the said date. We drop at Binan which is famous in installing car accessories. I was hoping to find a carrier that ne...

New Secretary

Image
Noel Villaruel , Owie for short, coincidentally a brother of Nestor, he will replace Sis. Venus as secretary for the parish. The Holy face sisters of which sister Venus belongs will be pulling out from the parish work. The superior told me that they could no longer give the parish a hand in secretarial endeavour because their novices will be having a extensive formation in preparation for their anniversary. The decision has greatly affected me, because, as a new assigned parish priest, the sisters was endorse to me by the former parish priest, I was confident that there will be no problem that I will encountered because I am already been secured of a secretary. I have already given her instruction and policy I prefer. Now, I will start all over again. The continuity of information may be severed between the existing policies and traditions. I have to start from the scratch. Although Owie was formerly been assigned as a secretary several years from the past. a lot of changes have oc...

Veneration of the Cross

Image
This set of slideshow was from the collection of pictures taken by Bro. Roger during the passion play 2007 or what we call senakulo 2007 Start of the celebration of the Good Friday liturgical celebration. The priest prostrate at the altar of the Lord. Procession during good Friday is well attended by the catholic even by those who are unchurched Veneration of the Cross. As part of the liturgy, today we venerate the Cross, the symbol of our salvation and salvific love of God. My sister with her husband, two sons and our cousin arrived that morning to visit me. We seldom see each other, so they decided to visit me here, since they have not done so since I arrived here in bay. The Youth presented a short passion play for the people for additional reflection on the day of the death of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
