Umakyat si Jesus sa bundok para manalangin at magpalipas ng magdamag sa pagdarasal sa Diyos. Nang nag-umaga na tinawag niya ang kanyang mga alagad at pumili siya ng labindalawa sa kanila na tinawag niyang apostol: Si Simon na pinangalanan niyang Pedro, si Andres na kapatid nito: si Jaime, si Juan, si Felipe, si Bartolome, si Mateo, si Tomas, si Jaimeng anak ni Alfeo, si Simon na tinataguriang Zelota, si Judas na kamag-anak ni Jaime, at si Judas Iskariote na naging tagapagkanulo. Umakyat si Jesus sa bundok para manalangin at magpalipas ng magdamag sa pagdarasal sa Diyos. Nang umaga na, tinawag niya ang kanyang mga alagad at pumili siya ng labindalawa sa kanila na tinawag niyang apostol: si Simon na pinangalanan niyang Pedro, si Andres na kapatid nito; si Jaime, si Juan, si Felipe, si Bartolome, si Mateo, si Tomas, si Jaimeng anak ni Alfeo, si Simon na tinaguriang Zelota, si Judas na kamag-anak ni Jaime, at si Judas Iskariote na naging tagapagkanulo. Pagkababa kasama nila, tumigil si Jesus sa isang patag na lugar. Naroon ang maraming alagad niya, at napakarami ring tao mula sa buong Judea at Jerusalem at mula sa baybaying dako ng Tiro at Sidon ang dumating para makinig sa kanya at mapagaling sa kanilang mga karamdaman. Gumaling din ang mga pinahihirapan ng masasamang espiritu. Kaya’t sinikap ng lahat ng tao na mahipo siya dahil may kapangyarihang lumalabas sa kanya, na nagpapagaling sa lahat.

Cardinal Jose Tomas Sanchez died today. May he rest in peace! Cardinal José T. Sánchez, Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for the Clergy, was born on March 17, 1920 in Pandan, diocese of Virac, in the Philippines. He attended the seminary of the Holy Rosary in Naga City and obtained a doctorate in theology at the UST of Manila. He was ordained a priest on May 12, 1946. As a priest, he carried out an intense pastoral activity in Sorsogon and Legazpi, dioceses in which for a period, was vicar general. He also taught at the minor seminary of Sorsogon, Academy of St. Agnes, superior school of Albay and at the Aquinas University in Legazpi city. He also taught at the major seminary of the Holy Rosary in Naga City. On February 5, 1968, he was elected titular Bishop of Lesvi and Auxiliary of Caceres. UST to exhibit, auction off 400 of its 'timeless' photos

MANILA, Jan. 19, 2012—Want a memento of your alma mater or just a remembrance of Asia’s oldest and only Pontifical university? Then visit the University of Santo Tomas (UST) on Friday for the unveiling of the “400 Shots to Immortality” and get the chance to bring home a limited edition photo portrait and donate something for the victims of Typhoon “Sendong” in Mindanao in the process. The exhibit of never-been-seen pictures of the 400-year-old UST, taken by student-photographer Paul Quiambao, is part of the university’s activities for its Neo-Centennial celebration. The Neo-Centennial celebration succeeds the UST’s year-long Quadricentennial festivities held last year to welcome the next centenary for the institution that produced countless national heroes and leaders. According to organizers, visitors of the exhibit can buy limited copies of some of the featured photographs.
