Refrigerators Hacking

Image
Yes. The incident is real, and it raises an important cybersecurity concern for the Philippines as well. The news you heard about is a cyberattack on supermarket refrigerators and freezers in Europe, reported on November 2–3, 2026. 1. What exactly happened? Hackers remotely gained access to computer systems controlling supermarket refrigeration equipment. These systems normally allow technicians to monitor and adjust temperatures without physically visiting each supermarket. The attackers apparently manipulated the controls, including activating defrost settings and raising temperatures. In some stores, freezers reportedly reached 50°C (122°F). As a result, food that should have remained frozen or refrigerated spoiled and had to be thrown away. AP News+2 This was not simply someone hacking a refrigerator's Wi-Fi. It was an attack on the computerised control systems managing commercial refrigeration equipment. 2. Which countries were affected? The incidents reported on November ...

The Cost of Discipleship

Image
Lucas 14:25-33 - The Cost of Discipleship This is the Gospel for the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother... and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple." - Lk 14:26-27 1. Introduction - The Crowd Problem My dear brothers and sisters, Luke tells us: "Great crowds were traveling with Jesus." They were fascinated, excited, following because of the miracles, the healings, the free bread. And Jesus turns around and says something that sounds terrible: You must hate your father and mother. You must renounce everything. Why? Because Jesus does not want fans. He wants disciples. A fan follows when it is convenient. A disciple follows to the Cross. 2. What Does "Hate" Mean? A Common Misconception to Correct In our Hebrew way of speaking, "to hate" does not mean to despise. It is a Semitic expression of prefe...

May Kwarto Sila sa Langit

Image
Juan 14:1-6 — All Souls Day Juan 14:1-6 — "May Kwarto Sila sa Langit" Gospel na ito, hindi pang-libing lang. Pang-huling gabi ni Jesus ito. Last Supper. Alam Niya papatayin Siya kinabukasan. Sa Greek, Me tarassestho hymon he kardia — "Huwag hayaang maalog ang puso ninyo." Ganun ang puso natin tuwing All Souls — maalog. Lalo na pag sariwa pa. Isang taon pa lang. 40 days pa lang. At anong sagot ni Jesus? Hindi explanation. Hindi theology ng kamatayan. Kundi invitation: 1. Kaya...

Ang ID ng mga Santo

Image
Mateo 5:1-12a — All Saints Day,  — November 1. Mateo 5:1-12a — "Ang ID ng mga Santo" Kapag All Saints Day, anong naiisip natin? At tandaan: Hindi ito 8 different kinds of saints.
