I Stand with Pope Francis

Image
Sharing not Plundering. Pumirma:

Prayer Against Death Penalty

Image
Prayer Against Death Penalty Leader: Father, source and giver of life, we lift our hearts and voices to you. Help us to build a society that truly chooses life in all situations. Let our response be: Lord, heal our pain. For those experiencing pain and anguish because of violence and crime, Lord, heal our pain. For perpetrators and victims of atrocities who both struggle with anger and hatred, Lord, heal our pain. For our broken world, enchained by the desire for revenge, Lord, heal our pain. For our wounded society misled by the illusion that one must take life in order to defend it. Lord, heal our pain. Leader: Let us say together: Help us to make peace. For our country, tempted to accept violent revenge. Help us to make peace. For the conviction to recognize and uphold the dignity of all people. Help us to make peace. For the wisdom to see poverty, injustice and lack of educational and employment opportunities as likely causes of criminality, ...

For Persecuted Christians

Image
This month's intention of the Holy Father which is printed in every ORDO and to the pamphlet of every member of the Apostleship of Prayer is for the Persecuted Christians everywhere in the world. Although, here in the Philippines we are slightly being intimidated because of our belief in some political issues, it has nothing in comparison with our  neighboring brethren who suffered much because of their faith in our God and in Jesus Christ, our Lord with the Holy Spirit. Though, formally no country or group of people who will announce that part of their program is the eradication of whom they believe as non believer because it is different from their belief system. Is it also maybe because of our belief of non-violence that we are susceptible for abuse and violent act. Not, it is not our belief that make us a prey for others but because they believe otherwise and this belief runs in blatant opposite of us of non violence. So it is not only on the issue of different b...

On Prayers

Image
Not only that today's Gospel speak about prayer on Luke 6: 12-19, but also see today in my email that one of my blogs, Prayer was nominated in one the blog awards here in the Philippines. I will not expect much on this because it was been since I updated it.  I failed to update it for the reason that aside from my religious and pastoral busy, I am researching to find out how to upgrade the mobile application of the same site. it can be accessed both in mobile and desktop at http://frjess.blogspot.com i used the predesigned application maker appgeyser site to make it available as an application. However, I am till looking for solution to make it accessible even without the use of internet. meaning that once accessed online can be written on the phone so that it can be viewed even without the internet. It is possible but what I need is that I would like to learn myself how to do it. I presuppose to learn it immediately but it seems that coding is a meticulous and...

Push it Everyday

Image
Browsing the Internet looking for Catholic Lay Bloggers, I cannot but recognized the need to maintain one's blog especially those manage by men. Women are more updated in their blog posts. Yes, I can relate on this because history will tell that it was also my experience for a long time and it still coming back. Though, I am keep telling to myself to write my thoughts how short it may. There are times that we cannot put our thought into words but experience tell us also that if we are tune to it it will become as easy as it gets. There is a need to push it everyday. like a prayer that must be done regularly and it will be a part of your normal existence.

Pope's Prayer Intention for August

Image
We usually hear from the prayer leader the words "for the intention of the Holy Father", yes there is a particular intention of the Holy Father every month. The apostleship of Prayer member is given a copy of the prayer intentions of the Holy Father for a year. But since not all of us are member of the Apostleship of Prayer, We need to search the intention of the Holy Father. The Zenith is publishing such intentions as well as several catholic bloggers. I will do so starting this month to give the intention of the holy Father. The Holy Father's universal prayer intention for August is: “That volunteers may give themselves generously to the service of the needy.” Pope Francis intention for Evangelization is: “That setting aside our very selves we may learn to be neighbors to those who find themselves on the margins of human life and society.”

Von Voyage

Image
Armine Isles Borja just visited me to ask prayer for his travel tomorrow going to Saudi Arabia tomorrow. He is leaving his work here as well as his wife and two children to look for a greener pasture. Since he could find more money there abroad more than what he is earning here in the Philippines. The Church believes that is more beneficial for the family to stay together here in the Philippines but financial opportunities could not be found. The Church provides prayer and support group for those leaving the country. the parish in particular will be affected by Amine's leaving the country as he holds the leadership of the music ministry. We pray that his time for leaving his family for work will be more profitable and may strengthen the faith of his family. M/V Kim Nirvana

Image
inquirer Yesterday, a boat named M/V Kim Nirvana capsizes as it leaves Ormoc city towards Camote Islands. It is believed that more than 35 persons were dead. Let us include them in our prayers. God our Father, Your power brings us to birth, Your providence guides our lives, and by Your command we return to dust. Lord, those who die still live in Your presence, their lives change but do not end. I pray in hope for my family, relatives and friends, and for all the dead known to You alone. In company with Christ, Who died and now lives, may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your praise forever and ever. Amen. As an update, today July 4, 2015, 8:57 Am, 52 were confirmed dead, Let us pray for the repose of their souls.

Adelina 1 Elementary School 2015-2016

Image
As the school years has already begun and the school classes normalizes, we also tried to bring spiritual assistance to the students and teacher by having the Holy Spirit Mass. Asking God for His continual protection and care as well as guidance so that we might be wise enough to use the gift of intelligence. Yesterday, along with the catechists of the parish, we celebrated the Holy Mass in the Adelina 1 Elementary School students and teachers. As the Gospel of the day suggests (MT 9:1-8) we pray to get rid of the evil spirit in this world. Christ himself have taught us the power of prayer and the power of prayer of the humble ones like the little children. Teaching children about our faith is a tough one, all catechist and parents experience that difficulty. Yet, we have to remind ourselves that it is a part of our duty to get rid of the evil spirit comes first from the conversion of the heart on the belief that only through the power of our Lord Jesus Christ we can drive evil ...

Praying for those abroad.

Image
Prayer of an Overseas Worker Father God, it’s so lonely out here. Many times I’ve asked myself why I had to go here in the first place, and why I can’t go back yet to where my heart truly is, where my true happiness resides. Why must I walk these streets alone? Why must I eat this bread without my family? Many sights have so amazed me since I got here and yet no beauty has ever succeeded in wiping away the tears from my eyes. For without my loved ones, what can all these things mean to me? I’d rather be blind, I’d rather tire myself to sleep so I won’t have time to remember, to cry, to long so painfully for the people I love so much. Help me O God. Give me strength to bear such a terrible longing. Give me hope so that the vision of your blessings for my loved ones always be before me. Give me faith so I can cling on that hope on my darkest and loneliest days. Let me never forget the reason why I came here for. Let me never forget who I am and to whom I really belong....

Translating to Vernacular!

Image
I am being reminded that blogs should be updated regularly. One of my shortcomings. There a lot in my minds that has to be shared. Even if this will entail that nobody might be on the receiving end. Facebook has eaten my time and it has been my platform for sometime. However, this spot must not be compromise. One of the things I admire in Vietnam since our seminar on Summer Catechetical Institute for Priest hosted by Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines, Episcopal Commission for Catechetics and Catholic Education last April 20-24 is they translated the whole of the Divine Office in the Vietnamese Language. yes, we have translated a part of the Morning prayer, Noon prayer, Evening Prayer and Night prayer for a week in our native tongue but not the whole Divine Office. There is much to be done in Philippine situation. What can I do. I can pray that those who have expertise may be able to do something about it or hoping that there will be bishops who can see the need f...

Panalangin sa Paghahanda sa Ginintuang Hubileyo ng Diyosesis ng San Pablo

Image
Bishop Buenaventura Famadico had decided that due to many prayers parish churches prays during the mass, the parishes within the diocese will use the prayer in preparation for the golden Jubilee to give importance to the preparation for the said event before the Post Communion prayer. Other prayers like that for the coming of the Pope this coming January can be prayed before or after the Mass.

Official Prayer for the 51st International Eucharistic Congress 2016

Image
Lord Jesus Christ, our hope of glory, You are the fulfillment of the Father’s plan to save all humanity. You are the mystery hidden from the ages and from generations past now manifested to us. You abide in your Church in the most holy sacrament of the Eucharist. As we celebrate the Holy Eucharist and receive your Body and Blood, grant us the awareness that your presence in us urges us to continue your saving mission in the world. Send us your Holy Spirit, that he may lead us to walk humbly with the poor and the marginalized, in the company of Mary, your most holy mother and ours. O Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament, to you be all honor and glory and praise in the unity of the Father and the Holy Spirit. One God, forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary

Image
Most Blessed Virgin Mary, amid the crisis brought about by the territorial claims of China, we come to your presence seeking your queenly protection and motherly help. We pray for peace and the safety of the Philippines, as we keep in mind the spiritual welfare of those who advance their territorial claims to the detriment of the security of our country. May the love of your Maternal Heart attract the Chinese people to your Son, Jesus. May your Immaculate Heart be the center from which the rays of the light and love for the Sacred Heart will radiate forth throughout China, becoming for them the unquenchable fountain from which the living water of the Divine Mercy will flow. Through your intercession, may the Lord grace the Chinese people with faith, hope and love, that by your maternal mediation of grace, the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit will be worshipped and glorified in that vast expanse of land. (Adapted from a message of Jesus to Sister Lucy of Fatima as documented in a lett...

Prayer to Saint Benedict

Image
Glorious St. Benedict who taught us the way to religious perfection by the practice of self-conquest, mortification, humility, obedience, prayer, silence, retirement and detachment from the world, I kneel at your feet and humbly beg you to take my present need under your special protection (mention here). Recommend it to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and lay it before the throne of Jesus. Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted. Above all, obtain for me the grace to one day meet God face to face, and with you and Mary and all the angels and saints to praise Him through all eternity. O most powerful Saint Benedict, do not let me lose my soul, but obtain for me the grace of winning my way to heaven, there to worship and enjoy the most holy and adorable Trinity forever and ever. Amen. Pray 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary, and 1 Glory Be. Life of Saint Benedict

Prayer to St. Benedict for a Happy Death

Image
Though it is not only saint Benedict whom we can pray for a happy death, saints like Joseph, the father parent of Jesus can be also our recourse. But let me put here also the prayer for saint Benedict for happy death. "O holy Father, St. Benedict, blessed by God both in grace and in name, who, while standing in prayer, with hands raised to heaven, didst most happily yield thy angelic spirit into the hands of thy Creator, and hast promised zealously to defend against all the snares of the enemy in the last struggle of death, those who shall daily remind thee of thy glorious departure and heavenly joys; protect me, I beseech thee, O glorious Father, this day and every day, by thy holy blessings, that I may never be separated from our dear Lord, from the society of thyself, and of all the blessed. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen." Life of Saint Benedict

Prayer to Saint Benedict

Image
Admirable Saint and Doctor of Humility, you practiced what you taught, assiduously praying for God's glory and lovingly fulfilling all work for God and the benefit of all human beings. You know the many physical dangers that surround us today often caused or occasioned by human inventions. Guard us against poisoning of the body as well as of mind and soul, and thus be truly a "Blessed" one for us. Amen. Dear St. Benedict, you are a "blessing" indeed, as your name indicates. Practicing what you preached, you founded the monastic tradition of the West by joining prayer to labor for God---both liturgical and private prayer. Help all religious to follow their Rule and be true to their vocation. May they labor and pray for the world to the greater glory of God. Amen. Glorious St. Benedict, sublime model of virtue, pure vessel of God's grace! Behold me humbly kneeling at your feet. I implore you in your loving kindness to pray for me before t...

Catechist Prayer

Image
Grace and all-loving Father, out of love for all people you spoke Your Word who become flesh for our salvation. May Your Word transformed me so that the message of Your Son, our Lord, may be echoed through my teaching. Allow me to guide the hearts of those whom I teach in such a way that they will enter more deeply into your way of truth and salvation. Grant me the insight needed to lead them to know, love and serve you. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit , may they become hearers and followers of your Word, so that they might help transform the world to follow the way of life to which Your Son has called us all, for He lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen
