One year

Image
Exactly, today is my one year stay in this parish, St. AUGUSTINE Parish. Not a single soul of my parishioner have ever noticed and even greeted me or asked me if I have adjusted already on this new assignment. They seem never care. Well, every place has its own personality. I came to realized that this is the personality of this place or maybe they do not care much. Parishioners of other places I was assigned is different, it was the opposite. Maybe, I was just used to them not realizing that this place and its people have other concerns. It was a relief that there are people from my former parishes that came to join me for a simple supper. They have invited me before to visit them to celebrate the first year of departure but I suggested otherwise to come here instead because tomorrow, i have a fiesta in one of my barrangay. They conceded on my proposal just to accompany me even for some moments during the day. Blogs commenting Fr. Jessie's post

Maitim

Image
I have a barrio named Maitim (black). it is still within the vicinity of poblacion proper, so there is no regula mass being held there. However, today, as a part of the program of "Dalaw ni San Agustin" (visit of St. Augustine) to every barangay, I celebrated my Mass there. it has some number of atandance but the most sad of it is that is is situated along the main road whic make it too noisy even if there is a public audio system. During my homily in this program I asked two things about St. Augustine. My question were what was the title of the book of the autobiography of St. Augustine and the title of the book which he envisioned of what heaven and heaven on earth shall be. They are humble enough to admit that they have not known any book written by the said saint. So, I am starting from scratch, I thought of myself. It seems that there is a lot of thing that should be done in respect for the extensive knowledge of the saint. People from other part of the country comes to ...

Indonesian Catholic Priest Killed

Right after the Mass, When the newspaper arrived, I was saddened to read the news about Fr. Franciskus Madhu's death. Well, the motive is not yet known as of the moment as the police are trying to find one. I will post also the news item from the inquired net concerning this matter. It saddened me because like any other priest, he offered himself for Christ and His church so that the community may celebrate the Paschal mystery. Practically, I am not saddened because he died, all of us has to prepare ourselves for that, but on the way/manner he died. Yes, of course, it is not greater than to what our Lord Jesus Christ has suffered. But to kill a servant of God, a priest, a man of God for whatever reason and even if the killer is not a Christian is something unhuman. Explicitly, the killer has to travel from Indonesia to Philippines to hunt down Fr. Madhu. This is my personal opinion based on the police report and the news that the assailant is from one of the island of Indonesia...
