San Pablo Bishop calls for Laguna-wide rally vs RH Bill

SAN PABLO City, March 8, 2012—San Pablo Diocese Bishop Leo M. Drona has urged all the clergy, nuns, parishioners, Catholic and religious organizations, students, professionals and all concerned citizens to join the Laguna-wide pro-life march next weekend to defend life and save Filipino families.

Drona has commissioned the Diocesan Family Life Ministry (DFLM) and the Knights of Columbus (KC), Laguna Chapter to spearhead the province-wide version of the pro-life march dubbed Walk for Life 2012 which will coincide with the nationwide prolife march-rally set on March 24, Saturday morning.

Organizers of the province-wide rally sent a letter duly noted and endorsed by the prelate to the parish priests of 83 parishes in the diocese, urging the clergy to encourage parishioners to join the pro-life rally.

“We are requesting your help and support by way of encouraging your parish church organizations, the Catholic Schools in your parish, and your parishioners in general, to join us in this march to preserve and uphold the dignity and value of life and support the CBCP (Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines) in their stand against the Reproductive Health (RH) bill pending in Congress,” the letter stated.

A concelebrated Mass will be held at the Liceo de San Pablo Gymnasium at about 7:30 a.m. followed by a program prior to the march-rally.

The march-rally will take place along the main thoroughfares of San Pablo City.

Organizers are expecting about 5,000 to 10,000 individuals who will join the diocesan pro-life march.

Neighboring dioceses and provinces have committed to send their delegations in support of the March 24 mass action. (Fr. Romy O. Ponte)
