For the Philippines as of 2025 — CBCP / Vatican Yearbook data : How many active priests? ∼10,178 priests active nationwide — down from 12,964 in 2016. The CBCP reports the Catholic population grew from 61.6M in 2016 to 73.6M in 2025, while  priests declined from 12,964 to 10,178.  Other reports note about 1 priest per 7,000 parishioners shortage and older counts of 8,700 priests nationwide overworked.  For reference, Catholic-Hierarchy latest tabulation lists 7,335 total (5,037 diocesan + 2,298 religious) but that is pre-2025. Kumpisalang Bayan

Image
Somebody is asking to add description to this event, this event was posted in my account in Facebook. I could not tract the one asking it, just flash in my screen as a part of the notification. I though before that there is no need to do so because it is already a part of the Lenten preparation. However, we should also go to the basic reminding ourselves that there are those who are not well verse to our natural flow of Christian devotion during the 40 days of preparation for the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Chris . Kumpisalang Bayan is what we commonly named the event where Confession is held in the parish through the help of the neighboring priests of the nearby parishes of religious institutions. this is to help the parish cope with the massive attendance of those who would like to receive the sacrament of reconciliation that we usually announced during the Lenten and Advent liturgical time.. This is not to substitute the regular time for parish confession schedules. We...

Communion of Communities: Ecclesiological Perspective Fr. Amado L. Picardal, CSsR, STD “2017- Parish as Communion of Communities: In this year we will discern the quality of faith life in the parish, the fellowship, belongingness, and participation experienced by its members. Efforts will be focused on making the parish a communion of communities, a communion of Basic Ecclesial Communities and of covenanted faith-communities and ecclesial movements. All these various communities should be thus integrated into the life and mission of the parish so that the parish will be truly be a faith community immersed in the lives of its people.” Etymology of Communion – Koinonia Communion is a translation of the original Greek koinonia which has several connotations: Union, unity Fellowship Community Friendship Sharing Participation Partnership Koinonia in Sacred Scripture In the New Testament, there are several texts that refe...

“Share ko lang po, observe nyo rin. Nasa Bdesh po ako, pero taga San Pedro po kami. Doon po sa area namin sa Bgy. Langgam me chapel. Ang sermon po dun today ay tungkol daw sa extrajucial killing, simbahan yan at bawat papasok daw po sa loob ng church kailangan pumirma para ma impeach si DDS. Di na po tamahyang mga pari na yan nang gigil po kami sa inis ng mga kapatid ko.”  This is a copy of the text I copied to one of the internet news outlet who are not responsible enough to clarify the issue. Although the Parish Priest of St. Peter, the Apostle in Poblacion, San Pedro City, Rev. Fr. Pablo Bugay and the Parish Priest of St. Joseph, The Patriach of Langgam, Rev. Fr. David Reyes, San Pedro City have already spoken through Radio Veritas  and denied any report of signature campaign to oust President Rodrigo Duterte. The news item was taken from a Facebook page. The text have prompted me to look deeply on our mission to deliver the Word of God to the faithful. We are...
