**Homily for August 30, 2026** Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Today, as we gather to reflect on the Word of God, we are invited to explore profound themes of humility, service, and love. The Gospel reading for today echoes these elements and poses an essential question to each of us: How do we truly embody the spirit of Christ in our everyday lives? In the Gospel, we encounter a powerful narrative where Jesus, amidst a gathering, addresses attitudes of pride and self-importance. He points out how easy it is for us, even within our religious communities, to seek the best seats or positions of honor rather than embodying humility and servanthood. In a world that often equates success with status, Jesus invites us to reconsider our values and our behaviors. **The Call to Humility** Jesus’ words are as relevant today as they were two thousand years ago. We often find ourselves striving for acknowledgment and recognition in various aspects of life — our work, our families, our communities. However, Jesus lays down a strikingly different path. "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." This phrase challenges us to step back and examine our motivations. Are we seeking the spotlight for our own gain, or are we willing to step into the shadows where service truly flourishes? Humility is not about thinking less of ourselves but thinking of ourselves less. The saints throughout history have exemplified this profound truth. Sa isang lipunan kung saan maraming mga layunin at ambisyon, mayroon tayong mga pagkakataon na nalilimutan ang halaga ng pagkakaisa at pag-unawa.
