Announcement: Site for the diocese of San Pablo Family and Life Commission

It was during our retreat that I approached Rev. Fr. Dodie Arupo for the site of the Diocesan Commission for Family and life. I told him that I am willing to help him for free to generate a site for the said commission especially for the information on the church stand on "reproductive health bill" being proposed on the Congress.

With much deliberation, he accepted my offer. He is quite adamant to consider my proposal because of commenters. I told him, that there is nothing to be afraid of because we would like to affect the decision of the faithful and we have to be open. It is still up to him to consider any questions and comments on the site to be posted.

It was only on the eve of the feast of St. Augustine (August 27, 2008), that he sent his first materials to be posted. Though, there is a lot of work for the preparation for the Feast day, I decided to open an account also on blogspot and posted the said materials on the internet. So, the official site for the Commission of Family and life on the internet is here: http://familyandlifecommission.blogspot.com.

it is only now that I have time to announce it because of pastoral duties, especially before, during and after the feast of St. Augustine.

New entrecard guidelines

The new entrecard guidelines will surely affect a lot of entrecard users who sells entrecard credits. Well, the right to sell is restricted only to entrecard. Maybe a lot of  competition has also stretched them to lower the amount for credit sales. Well, they already killed the competition by not allowing others to sell their credits. Another resctriction was imposed when an additional tax is given to those who transfer credits, they call it transfer tax. This card is like a bank that charge you of moving your own money to another account. Is this greed? Here is the email I received from them. I believe all entrecard users received such email.

In order to continue operating in the long-term, Entrecard needs make some significant changes. These are summarized below:
  1. Buy credits for less: Entrecard is now selling 1,000 credits for $6.00. You can buy them here: http://entrecard.com/r/buy_credits
  2. More pricing increments: Instead of prices doubling every time, there are now a few more steps. The new price points can be found on the Advertising page in the wiki, here: http://entrecard.com/docs/doku.php?id=advertising
  3. Members are not allowed to sell credits: This goes for ebay sales, posts in the Marketing forum, and posts on other forums. If you have references on your site to the sale of credits, please remove them immediately, as it is now against our terms.
  4. Credit transfer limits: Members are allowed to make a maximum of 14 credit transfers a week, up to a maximum of 1,000 credits, whichever comes first. This means you can still run contests where you give credits away for free, and under 1k per week. Note: This does not affect linked blogs, you can transfer unlimited credits between linked blogs.
  5. Transfer tax: From now on, all transfers, including transfers made with our new payments API, will be taxed at a rate of 12.5%. The taxed credits will be sold to members (see #1).
  6. Blogs cannot be unlinked: Once you link a blog, it's there for good unless you ask us to delete the blog from your account. This prevents linking/unlinking to get around the credit transfer limits, and it also stops you losing access to a blog if you unlink it in error, which happens a lot.
  7. No more coupons: You are no longer allowed to send coupons.
  8. Shop closed: Except for Entrecard upgrades (Featured Status, Fast Pass) the Entrecard Shop is now offline until further notice. Please do not request a seller token until the shop returns. When it comes back, it will be bigger and better. We'll communicate more details nearer the time.
We really do believe that an economy with plenty of 3rd parties involved is a stronger economy overall, unfortunately just right now we're unable to support that given the need to keep everything running. We hope that, by taking the steps we have, we will be able to reach a good balance between maximizing the overall benefits for our users and getting the revenue we need to pay the bills and expand the service. Hopefully, in the future, we'll be in a stronger position with a more diverse income and we'll be able to reintroduce independent credit sales and unfettered credit transfers among members.
We appreciate all the feedback we've had over the past few days on this topic, please let us know what you think by leaving a comment on our blog post here: http://entrecard.com/blog/?p=555
Thanks for standing by us while we make these important changes, and know that these changes will allow us to continue to make available to you the great Entrecard service that brings you more traffic, comments, and subscribers and better rankings.

I will be trying this widget to at least reciprocate my droppers and also to drop my cards to the said sites.

Here is the widget:

Come to Order

It took me four days before I can figure it how to properly arrage the sidebars. Thank God, I was able to modify the site with a painful realization to back up the templates  always. I am not much of a techie but at least  I was able to retrace my steps and a few understanding of the internet language.

Along with the process of updating this blog I accidentally remove some widgets along the way. Well, I will replace them later. The experience is quite taxing and time consuming but at least I learned on the process.

Nuffnang

A lot of questions were been raised on the legitimacy of "Nuffnang" among Filipino blogger because iot is just newin the Philippines as an advertiser agent, It was almost a month now that since it started here in the Philippines and no advertiser yet. So far, there is no question of legitimacy on me. It is a legitimate bussiness but will it add revenue to the blog site is the most importantr question. Since, I started blogging, I did not have any income yet, I am not that good enough, maybe. I have no regrets because I did not start blogging for monetary purpose but it will help me a lot. Sometimes, I cannot accept that I am not too good enough to earn even a  cent through my blog.

Contemplating upon my contents, give me an insigth that this is not really the subject matter that people would like to read. But, the very purpose of this blog is a journal of my journey. And I do not want to shift from that thought. Maybe I could add another blog for specific topics of which could give me earning. I have a blog that continually give hig traffic but since it is hosted to wordpress. I could not monetize it. As others suggested, if I want my blog to earn money I need to get my own domain nameof which for the moment I could not afford. I do not have also the expertise to manage my own blog in my own domain name. Let us see.
getting back to Nuffnang, I received this letter (see below) explaining their present condition. On my case, I decided to remove their banner for the moment. I will restore them later if see some improvement.

Dear Nuffnangers:

Thank you for your overwhelming response and acceptance of our efforts to establish our community in the Philippines .  Since the soft launch of our website last August 27, we have reached over 900 registered bloggers in less than a month.   That's a great start and we appreciate your support!

On our part, we've started to actively sell ad inventory. As you know, internet advertising is new to the Philippines , so we are not sure when revenue will ramp up.

However, we would like to assure you that we are working very hard. We've been improving our marketing material based on campaigns in Malaysia and Singapore . We've also started presenting to ad agencies and clients. We're supporting our online efforts with some outdoor video ad's on Guadalupe (http://www.nuffnang.com.ph/blog/2008/09/05/traffic-in-edsa-witness-to-nuffnang%E2%80%99s-arrival/ ).We are also investing in training. Timothy has been here a couple of times to our office. And, we are planning to send our team to Malaysia and Singapore i n October to learn secrets to success that we can apply here.

Smart Bro Again

For two days there is no connection again with the Smart Bro. I do not know if this blog will give additional media milleage to the said company in positive or negative standpoint. I do not compare technical support between internet service provider since I do not have other access to others. There are other competitors in the area now, unlike before when I started subscribing with the Smart Bro. However, two days without connection is too much for updating my site, of which I would like to fill up the backlog of some other blogs.  As ussual, trying to call their costumer support will require a lot of time even before getting connected with the service representative. Some information coming from the backdoor that says that there was a problem nationwide. When I asked one of my friends who is also a subscriber he could not comment because he switched to Globe just recently.

It baffles me

I thought before, my blog isn't loading except the left wing widget because it stops loading while not seeing the blog posts section and the two right widgets. I have used chrome and then the flock and the safari. It was later that I realizzed that it was only the last widget of the lect side that the blog posts sections and the rest of the right wing section follows. Now I am trying to figure out how does this thing happen because it did not make anymore modification of the html section of the template.

Top Philippine Site Directory

I have tried to update this site along with my other sites.however due to a lot of pastoral and sacramental duties of a priest, there are some difficulties to do so. I have told myself to update later on, but it comes to passed that it has never been materialized. If ever there are things to update, I will just update as it presents itself.
I decided to add this site to top Phillippine Site.

My Sacerdotal Anniversarry

I invited the choir of Sta. Maria in the simple celebration of my sacerdotal anniversary. I asked them to render a Marian Song as we celebrate the feast of the Our Lady of Sorrows today. Here it is.

My Emotional Quotient

Your EQ is 140
You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.

You are warm and open. Even when life gets you down, you're unafraid of the world and its challenges.
You are comfortable with who you are. And you accept your weaknesses - as well as the weaknesses of others.

While you are quite stable, you don't respond perfectly to every bad situation that comes up.
But you have enough emotional intelligence to know when you need a course correction.

Transfered my other blog to blogspot

It was been a long time that I suggest to the diocesan hierarchy on making a website of the Diocese. They are always telling me that there is already on the making. So Idid not bother for quite sometime. But when people are asking me through emails of some information of the present assignments of priests within the diocese, it gave me not only a second thoughts, but a lot of thoughts. Official sites should come from those of whom authority were given.

I decided to pursue the idea even if they do not give me a free hand ont his matter. Since, it is explicit of the need of the site though it is not implied that I will make it. I am taking the liberty of making one. That's the reason that I put the "unofficial" sign in the description of the site. I do not know their intention, however, it is clear to me that I have to make some move concerning this matter for the sake of information and access. If, however, they reprimand me on this matter, I will be obliged to take it down.

I have rechecked the search engine if there is any site that they claim have been made but from out of 410, 000 pages from the google search and 61,000 of yahoo search i did not find any except from what is posted on cbcponline, Msgr. Joe Barrion's sites posted last Jubilee year 2000 on Jubilee Churches of Laguna here in the Philippines and the most of the rest is what I have posted before I was assigned to a far flung parish who does not have an internet access.

Now that I am assigned to a parish of which internet is readily available, I would like to make the best of it. And I want that the Diocese could be more accessible in having information readily available in the internet.

This is my introduction when I opened the San Pablo site in i.ph. However, I seldom work on the site because it loads slower. With some reflection, I decided to move it here to save me some time.

As we celebrate the birth of the Virgin Mary, I dedicate this blog in her honor. Happy Birthday!!! Mama Mary. In your motherly protection, help me.
Practically, writing blogs neede also somt time management and easyness for the blogger beside thingking what content is to be written, the presentation and the friendliness of the platform is to be noted. Much will be appreciated if there is enough room for imprrovement for own domain name but of course, it will add additonal time and expenses. let us just be content for the moment to house it to a free site like blogger. for how long? It depends entirely to the generosity of the donor.

New Friendster Blog

Friendster, one of the social communication site has some makeover of their blogs features. Now, it uses wordpress flatform. I seldom post on my friendster blog. I do not know if it will change my habit since they have improved it. It would be better if they have chosen the blogger flatform instead. But that is a remote possibility beause it will give them additional competition within their network of advertising. Here is the letter, I have received from them:

Hello Jessie,

New Browser "Google Chrome"

The figth for internet dominance, if I may call it, is so competitive that all the companies involved would like to avial of all possible information in the emerging digital world. Google would not like to left behind.

The internet explorer of Microsoft, Mozzilla Firefox, Opera, Netscape, Safari of Apple and  Flock of Yahoo are just some of the existing browser I can remember. Now, google unleashed its new browser called google chrome.

Before the coming of Chrome, I am using flock, it is not popular in compare with other browser but I like it because of its simplicity and speed. Much more that i like chrome but there are some frames that chrome could not read properly so I am still using flock.
