New Blog: Catholic Web Directory

Creating a new directory for blogs have also promted me to do the same for Catholic websites. Though there are sites that combine both feature of a static page and those as of blogs, I see it is also necessary to bring them together into one collection. Maybe I could help other catholics to find what they are looking for by pointing them to the right direction. The Catholic Web Directory could be accessed here:

New blog: Catholic blog Directory

Little time and yet ther is much to be done. Well nobody is presurring me, maybe it is just me. I have decided to make a collection of all the catholic blogs as an additon to others. However, it has a feature that is not existent with the other directory. I used an additional widget to present this directory of which the content can be seen in the said site. it could ne accessed here. I am calling it Catholic blog directory

Here is the introduction I posted there:
After some reflection and prayerful discernment the author have come into a conclusion that an additional blog be created particularly for the directory of catholic blogs and website. Well a lot of time is already spent to some projects already at hand but it deem necessary to put anothercatholic directory for blogs and web sites.

For what reason? Well, this is the collection of the author with some modifications that can be found in the existing catholic directories. it is my personal choice of the author of which he believes beneficial for all. Some features will be added different from the existing site and particular as a sort of a internet window for other sites.

Second, the author believes that by engaging in this arena will develop his potential on discovering new ways from which catholic information can be disseminated in the internet.

For inclusion of your blog, just email the
blog master.

Catholic Terms

I decided to make another blog for the collection of catholic terms, I myself find some difficulty to understand. I called it Catholic Term and has this address :  Other terms can be added later oneven though I might already know them, so that others may also be guided properly concerning the proper meaning of some terms we are using as catholic. This may also help other non-catholic to understand us better.

More Preparation

As the feast of St. Augustine is fast approaching, preparation has to be done starting with cleaning the surroundings. Of Course, the spiritual preparation such as Novena to the said patron has already started. General House cleaning is necessary to make the surrounding beautiful and to put other things in order that was been left alone for almost a year.

New Stores

Sis. Letty and Sis. Den, both parishioners of the Holy Trinity Parish, open new stores in Los Banos, Laguna near the crossing area. Sis. Letty open a cloth store and Sis. Den an office supply store. They chose Los Banos beause of the influx of people, more potential custumer. Nowadays, we nned more exposure to help the said business to florish. Of course, they ask the blessings and guidance of our Lord Jesus Christ in the said undertaking. I bless the said store with the permission of the parish priest of the said vicinity. It belongs to the parish of San Antonio

Solution to Smartbro problem

After waiting for some answers to the problem of Smartbro connection I have posted earlier, Paetechie Technology News and Reviews offers a reliable solution than the call centers agents of the said internet company. The solution put a proxy rather than the automatic proxy, click here for more detailed instruction from Open Dns.

1. Select Control Panel from the menu
2. Click Network Panel from the Control Panel Choices
3. Choose your connection from the Network Connections window.
In this screenshot, Local Area Connection is the only choice. If you have more than one, choose your default/current connection.
4. Click Properties button.
5. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
6. Click the radio button Use the following DNS server addresses and type in OpenDNS addresses in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server fields.

Please write down your current DNS settings before switching to OpenDNS, in case you want to return to your old settings for any reason.

Preferred DNS server address for Open DNS is:

Alternate DNS server address for Open DNS is:

I am reposting this instruction here for a better media mileage concerning the solution for this problem because I know there are more who are really affected by this problem nationwide as stated in the forum I belong. Thanks for those who have the technical knowhow who shared this.

Frustrating Internet Providers

We always like a smooth surfing and easy access to internet. Most of my time needs a lot of bandwith. Since Saturday, the connection of Smartbro becomes too frustrating. It is not only that of the inefficiency of the said provider to fix the problem but the time spent to report the said problem. Since day one of the lost connection, I have started to report it but it takes a lot of useless procedure because they already know that the problem is in their system. Every time I called them surely they will ask what is your name, what is the reference number, is this name the one reflected in the account, what is the ip address, what is the physical address, unplug the motorola device, disable and enable internet connection, clear your internet history, delete all temporary files and after it they will give you the report number to be follow up after 24 hours without telling you the problem. Even my smart phone was disconnected several times during the conversation. I observed also that it will take you almost to eternity before you can connect.

In one of the internet forum, this problem was been discussed. One of the members, ian was able to check the smartbro server and this was the report:
DocMana [0] has provided a lead. In his blog post, he lists Smart
Bro's DNS servers:

I did some quick tests (sample below):

$ dig @ +verbose TXT

; <<>> DiG 9.2.4 <<>> @ +verbose TXT
;; global options: printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: REFUSED, id: 58122
;; flags: qr rd; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0

;; Query time: 241 msec
;; WHEN: Mon Aug 18 05:18:16 2008
;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 39

Ideally, [1] should return a rating for the DNS
server's source port randomness. The DNS servers above, however,
refused the query (might be because the admins set them to be
non-recursive). While not conclusive in itself, it should provide a
lead for Smart Bro engineers.

For Smart Bro users, you might want to perform the tests described in [1].

One thing is sure, the problem does not lie in the subscriber's. There is something wrong with the smartbro internet connection. Please do something about it and please do not put your subscriber to a tedious processes of checking especially when you know that the problem is in you because not all are technically capable of understanding checking the ip address and such.

For now, I can browse some sites but not all. I will contend for the moment to receive the message "problem loading page" and "server not found".

Pitchie's Birthday

Her birthday have passed long ago, about three weeks already but since there was no time then, we decided to hold a simple celebration today somewhere in Metro Manila. She stays in Manila after her defeat as vice-mayor candidate in her hometown. She still serves in the Government through the Department of Local Government central office and works as call center agent.

Right After lunch, my cousin sally visited me with her friends. They just drop by since the school she is working with had a field trip in one of the largest beef farm here in Laguna, situated in Calauan, a neighboring town. I was expecting them to pass over me at around two o'clock in the afternoon but there are some changes in their iterinary. We have some little chat and bough from a local bakery worth of one thousand  (1,000) pesos of monay bay

Cj's Birthday 2008

When I was assigned in Suba, Majayjay, Laguna during the 1990's, Imade some friends, both from the Our Lady of the Pillar parish and of neighboring parishes. Some were just high school students then. But now, they are professionals, others married and have children already. CJ is one of them but it was been a long time since no communication was made from either of us. It was only later during the last Chrism Mass that CJ and her parents attended in San Pablo that she has seen me again. I did not noticed here then because ther are many faithful who attended this yearly celebration. It was through the internet that she was able to see my contact and have emailed me. It was then that communication was reestablished.

Today, I came to their house for the celebration of her birthday. here are soe pictures during the said celebration with some of the guest.

Assumption 2008

Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The word assumption means that Mary went to heaven nit by herself to distinguish it from Jesus, the Christ who ascended to Heaven. Mary did not go to heaven by herself. Jesus ascended to heaven because it is His right as the "one who came from heaven". It is only through Jesus that Mary entered heaven. This is just a simple clarification but has great impact on the catechesis of the People of God. The difference is needed for the clarification that through the merits of Mary's faith and ours in Jesus Christ as the very reason of being taken to heaven. Good works is not excluded here because faith without work is dead.

Annual Retreat

Franciscan sister giving orientation

I arrive in Tagaytay at around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. It was been a time to be still and have some moments of reflection. The first day is really a time to settle in for some rest both in mind and body. There is no schedule except the orientation from the nuns who are managing the retreat center and from the retreat director.

Personally the retreat is more an invigorating moment to charge one's spirituality and to give some time on some major decision that I have made. To side aside the mistakes and triumps of my life for the past year. It is a humble experience to see that with all the effort that we oured only comes from the merciful love of our Creator, Saviour and Sanctifier.
Msgr. Alex Amante giving some instruction
Since I was ordained, this is the simplest cabinet I have ever since for a five day retreat
We are travelers in this world, there is no need for luxury
