Pabasa ng Pasyon ni Jesus

One of the Filipino Catholic Tradition is "Pabasa', the chanting of the life of our Lord Jesus Christ that may run to 12 hours to one and half day, depending on the tune use in the chanting. This is a communal activity of the faithful during the Lenten season especially during Holy Week.  It is a form of religious meditation on the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. As well as form of expression  and profession of the Christian faith.

Every parish usually is holding a Pabasa of the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. The St. Martin de Porres in adelina 1, San Pedro, Laguna, Phillipines, is doing it every Holy Monday. And it is live now on this channel.

New Parish Assignment 2013

Sometimes, there is some difficulty on uploading the pictures from the dslr camera than the mobile camera of the cellphone.

One of the historic moment not only for myself but also for the whole diocese was the general reshuffle of all diocesan priest last January 16, 2013 right after it was officially announced the day before during the feast of St. Paul, the first hermit in the cathedral wherein the dedication of the said holy place was celebrated the day before.

Here are the moments captured through the lenses of the said transfer from the old parish to the new one. From St. Augustine Parish, Bay, Laguna to St. Martin de Porres Parish, Adelina I, San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines in particular. Rev. Fr. John F. Tabot replace me in St. Augustine Parish and I succeeded Rev. Fr. Elden Cabuhat.

I thank all my previous parishioners who supported me and guided me through the six years of my stay as their Parish priest in St. Augustine.

Parish Pilgrimage

Visita Iglesia is a Spanish phrase which means visiting churches. The original Filipino Catholic tradition is a Holy Thursday event after the Last Supper celebration wherein the faithful visits the exposed the blessed sacrament in seven chosen churches for veneration until midnight.

However, some faithful use also this term in visiting churches aside from the time mentioned above as long as it is within the time of Lenten season. Some church official would like to use term Parish Pilgrimage instead.

Whatever might be the term used, one thing is sure it is a religious activity that the Catholic faithful see as an act of piety that strengthen one's faith.

Here is one of the route of the Parish Pilgrimage of the St. Martin de Porres parishioners from Adelina 1, San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines. It includes the map and prayer of the station of the cross.
